About a month ago, I had the oh so great idea to make our Halloween costumes this year. Now, I am asking myself WHY!?!? Really, what was I thinking. I remember way back when I was 12. I was preparing to go on the pioneer trek, and I was responsible for making my own skirts. I went with my mom to pick out the material, cut out the fabric, did some pinning, then sat down at the sewing machine. And that is where it ended. After several attempts at sewing a straight line, my dear mother took pity on me, and did it for me. Well, 12 years later, I still can't sew a straight line. It doesn't help that the material I picked out is very slippery and stretchy and horrendous to work with. But despite my deficiencies with sewing, I did manage to turn eight separate pieces into four. And it only took 3 hours!! (The pattern cover said it should just take an hour, and I am not even close to being finished.)
This afternoon Orion and I went to the library. We had to return Signing Time, a movie which Orion has come to love, but we did get a different Signing Time dvd. We got home from the library and I gave the dvd to Orion to carry into the house, while I grabbed my stack of books. He imediatly went downstairs and put it in. I am not sure how I feel about my 20 month old baby boy knowing how to work the dvd player. So I let him watch the movie and then we went outside to play. Like always, he got extremely dirty and muddy, and loved every moment of it. It always brakes my heart when I tell him we have to go inside and he looks at me like I just took away his favorite toy for no good reason at all. What a mean mom I am. After we came inside though, he got to take a bath, which he loves almost as much as being outside. What a cute boy I have!

Whats for Breakfast??

So recently, in my quest to loose a few pounds, I have been having a fruit smoothie every morning for breakfast. Orion really likes to help by pushing the buttons. Well today, he tried to make his own shake. He started with some pear that had a few bites taken out of it, then tried to put a can of soup in, (really, he tried to put the can in) followed by my keys. YUMMY!! I don't think I will be letting him experiment in the kitchen anytime soon.
After Orion gets up from his nap, we are planning a nice long trek to the eye doctor. My new glasses are in. YEA!! I would just drive (mostly cause I am LAZY) but since one of the cars is still broken, and silly Phil doesn't want to bike to work, I am stuck walking to go pick them up. In reality, it will not be that big of a deal. The office is only about a mile away. Orion will love to be out and about and will LOVE to see all the cars and trucks drive by. I don't know about that boy. His fascination with trucks just seems to be growing.

Father and Son bonding

So, FINALLY yesterday, after being with out a car all week, Philip finally decided to look at the Geo and see if he could fix it. Orion decided to help. Unfortunately the problem was not with the battery. So now we think that it might be the starter. But really,we have no clue. So I will have to suffer through at least another two weeks without a car. Oh what will I ever do?

Today was good. Philip hurt his back trying to fix the car, so he did not venture out to church today. Orion did really good though today in Sacrament meeting. I ended up having to lead the music, so Orion sat with his cousins, and I was impressed with how well he did. I only heard him say "tru tru tru" a couple of times. And of course, he loved nursery. He was practically dragging me to his classroom, and once that door opened, he doesn't look back. What a blessing that is!!

Just your average week

So we have been pretty busy this week. I have had the opportunity to serve several people in our ward this week by watching their children, and Orion has loved having playmates around. He has been really good about sharing, but sometimes is a little too enthusiastic about it. He likes to force toys at kids when they don't really want what it is he has.

The other day I turned around and Orion had a big bouncy ball stuck in his mouth. I was amazed he could fit the whole thing in his mouth and tried to get a picture, but was not very successful at capturing a really good one.

Also, Orion has really been into Bubbles. He can spend hours (ok, so just minutes really) sitting outside "blowing" bubbles.

Sept. 16, 2008

Ok, so after a lot of pressure from variouse people, I have decided to start a blog. I cannot gaurentee consistant or numerouse updates, but I will try my best.

Today, Orion and I did the very tedious and long put off chore of weeding. It went rather quickly because of all the rain we have had recently, but we also got VERY muddy. I think Orion had a great time in the mud. Unfortunately I did not have the foresight to take a picture. Sorry Grandmas! But I did make dinner for a family in our ward today and Orion helped with the brownies. So Fun!
