Toes Mommy Please

The other day, Orion brought me my bag of nail polish and said "Toes Mama peas". How could I say no to that? I let him pick out the colors, hoping that he would choose one of the more subtle soft colors. Nope, much to his fathers dismay, he chose the two brightest colors I own. I am lucky that Philip is still talking to me. We once had the conversation that boys are boys and under no circumstances was I ever to paint their nails or put makeup on them. Well, now I have done both, and Orion is still VERY MUCH a boy.

Yesterday was a pretty good day. In the morning, Orion and I made a fruit loop necklace. Orion doesn't quite have the motor skills to string the fruit loops, but he sure did enjoy eating them! He also had fun handing them to me for me to string on. Occasionally, he would "sneak one" and smile up at me like, he was the most innocent boy in the world, who would never do anything mischievous at all. Later we went outside to enjoy the 40 degree weather. A lot of the snow was melting and Orion and a grand time splashing in the water. His feet must have been FREEZING!! WE came home and I took off his soaking wet socks and shoes, and put on dry socks, and instantly Orion was saying "ahh warm".
After dinner, I got out some scrapbooking stuff, and worked on Orions book. I am trying really hard to get caught up on stuff before the baby comes. While I did this, Orion took a bath. I love that he is at an age where I can put him in the bath, leave the door open and just listen. If it is quiet for more than a few seconds, I call out to him, and he answers. It is great! After 45 minutes, I finally made him get out. But lately it hasn't been that big of a deal. I made him a froggy towel for his birthday, and if he gets to use that when bath time is over with, he is happy to get out. Then the only problem I have is getting him to hang it up. He wants to wear it even after he has his jammies on.

A Happy Ending

Valentines day started out really good. As a gift to Philip, I let him sleep in, and got up with Orion. (Saturday is usually my day to sleep in!) In the morning I worked on a lesson I was teaching on Sunday, while Orion destroyed the basement. After Philip got up, we decided that we wanted to go out to lunch and then hit an early movie. While Philip showered, Orion and I went outside to shovel the driveway and play in the snow. Then we all piled in the car, to take Orion to Wandas. It was sitting in the car waiting for Philip to come out from dropping Orion off, that I noticed my wedding ring was missing! I panicked and started checking all around me, in my purse and pockets and such. No ring. When Phil came out, I told him that I lost my ring. We went home to do a quick search. No ring. I was pretty sure it was somewhere outside in the snow, but I couldn't be positive. We went out to lunch, with me crying the whole way in. Then we saw a movie. I was glad we chose an action, 'cause really, the last thing I needed at that point was to watch some sappy love movie, where the girl ends up getting a ring at the end. After we got home, we looked some more, but still, no ring was found. LONG story short, we borrowed two different mettal detecters, and finally last night, Philip found my ring, burried in the snow.

I know that me not having my wedding ring doesn't mean I'm not married anymore, or that Philip doesn't love me, or anything else like that. But the thought that I might not ever see it again, was heart breaking. Perhaps it was just the massive amount of hormones running through my body, but really, the thought of not having MY ring . . . I was overcome with joy and relief when Phil came in with it. I was almost as happy as when Philip gave it to me the first time. Almost.

Museum Fun . . . or not.

Orion and I went to a Discovery Museum in Milwaukee today with Wanda. It wasn't quite like I pictured it being, but we still had a pretty good time. In my mind, I pictured a childrens museum with some exhibits geared towards toddlers. Unfortunately, there were none there like that. Orion had fun playing with some of the gadgets and wheels and buttons, but I don't think he really paid much attention to what most of them did. The best part was the Aquarium. Orion LOVED looking at all the different fish!! And of course, the water. He wanted so badly to go and play in it, but was very good and only stuck his hand in it once. There was a part where we could walk over some of the tanks, and look down and see the fish we were walking on. Orion did NOT like that! He was scared and holding on to the railing for dear life. I finally took pity on him and carried him across the rest of the clear floors. All in all, I am glad we went. I now know I don't care to go back there, and since we got in for free, I didn't waste $30 on a place that as of right now, Orion didn't really understand. Maybe in 5 or 6 years we will go back.

We're having a . . .

Well, I had my ultra-sound today. Everything looks good. All the little boy parts are there. Philip is a little disappointed, but I am sure once he looks into Williams little green or blue eyes, he will no longer feel any disappointment at all. We are very excited to be having anther little one join our family in 5 months.

I have been awful about posting regularly. I would say sorry, but really, we are leading such boring lives right now, that you wouldn't want to read about it. Trust me. Anyway, about a week ago, we got a wonderful surprise in the mail. A second Christmas!! Due to circumstances beyond any ones control, the Christmas gifts from my parents didn't arrive until the beginning of February. But it was so nice to have! Orion was soo excited to have more presents to open and was very sad when I told him we had to wait for daddy to get home. I put the presents on the table, and every now and then, I would find him trying to rip a little paper off the boxes. Silly boy. Orion got a hand made teddy bear from Grandma, and he loves it! That night it had to have scriptures and prayers with us, and mom and dad were not worthy of his loves. All his hugs and kisses that night went to his "baby". Orions b-day present also came in the same box. He got a pair of jammies with cars. Now this is a very special pair of jammies. The Christmas jammies he got from Grandma and Grandpa Bainbridge are very soft. Orion is always so sad when they get dirty and he has to put them in the dirty clothes. He always wants his "sof" jammies. I told my mom this, and so she made him a second pair of "sof" jammies. Once again, Orion was so excited to wear them when he saw them. He was sorely disappointed when I told him he had to wait until after dinner. What a mean mom I am.

On Saturday afternoon, I went shopping with Wanda. I am getting to the point where my Sunday dresses don't fit anymore, and I only have one short black skirt that fits. The problem with this is, I have to wear nylons with it, and I hate wearing nylons. So I went out to find a maternity dress to wear to church. Can I just say- there is NOTHING out there!! We went to 6 or 7 different stores. Most of them didn't have dresses to choose from. And if they did have dresses, they were all short, or sleeveless, or both. I was so discouraged!! On the way home we hit Target. There I found a long (almost too long) black spaghetti strap dress. I will have to either wear a shirt under, or over. We tried, and it looks good both ways. I am glad we hit Target last though, because had we tried it first, I would have held out for something better. The best part of the dress- it was only $7! I think I might go to Joanns and look for a pattern and some fabric and try to make me a couple of dresses. Really, don't pregnant women wear dresses?
While I was out with Wanda, Philip and Orion had a great time together. Philip built a fort out of blankets, and I guess Orion thought it was just great. Mostly, I was just happy that they played together and had a good time.
Yesterday we had a BEAUTIFUL day. The high was supposed to be 55. I don't know if it actually got that high, but it was warm enough that I didn't even grab a jacket when we went outside. Orion and I played with sidewalk chalk and went for a walk. The sad part- first thing this morning, Orion was asking to go outside and draw. When I told him we couldn't because the sun wasn't up yet, he was not discouraged. He then asked to go for a walk. Once again, I dashed his hopes, by saying no. It is raining today and the high is only supposed to be in the 30s. Hopefully we will find lots of fun things to do inside today.
We are all looking forward to tomorrow. I have an ultra sound @ 1:oo, and I get to find out what we are having. We are so excited to find out who will be joining our family! Look for a post later this week to annouce if its a boy or girl.

The last couple of days have been busy, but really good. (for the most part)

Yesterday I watched my friends two little girls for just a little bit. Orion LOVES having friends over. At one point, him and Molly were on the couch together reading books. I thought it was very cute. Also yesterday, I went and had my first ever professional massage. I had a gift certificate for a free one hour massage, and I took advantage. All I can say, is I don't think I would EVER spend $60 on a massage. It felt nice, and was really relaxing, but I didn't really feel like it was worth paying for. Philip can rub lotion on me for free, and I think it would be more relaxing to have him do it, then a perfect stranger. Afterwards, Philip and I went out to dinner. It was nice to just spend some time alone with him. He is such a wonderful guy, and I love to spend any amount of time I can with him. Then since yesterday was Thursday, after Orion went to bed, I went and hung out with a couple of my friends. I love having girls night out!!

Today, we had BEAUTIFUL 38 degree weather. Orion and I even went outside to play with the sidewalk chalk. After lunch Philip and I went and saw a movie with Wanda and Robert. We saw "New In Town", and I really liked it. It was clean and had very few swear words, and I thought the small town humor was funny. Philip and I splurged and got a large popcorn and drink. (They both came with one free refill.) At first, when we saw how large the large popcorn really was, we thought maybe we should have just gotten the medium. I am so glad we didn't! I ended up eating both large popcorns, mostly by myself. Philip and Wanda had a couple of handfuls, but really, it was mostly me. Mmm, it was so nummy. Philips response was that I am definately pregnant. Tonight, I plan on curling up with a good book, at least I hope it's good, and maybe even get pop some popcorn to nibble on while I read.
